Hong Kong, 4 September – Alaya Consulting, the leading ESG consultancy based in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, is excited to partner with Nasdaq Corporate Solutions to launch the first case competition for university students that focuses on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues.

Tony Wong, founder of Alaya Consulting, stated: “While attention paid to ESG is on the rise across a wide spectrum in the business world, it remains a rather under-discussed subject in university curricula. Our aim is to raise the ability of university students for resolving the rising complexity of business issues, which are no longer just about shareholder value maximization, solutions must balance the interests of all key stakeholder groups. Alaya’s ESG Case Competition would be our first step to engage the younger generation in Hong Kong, and we are confident that our ESG case competition would generate value for both Alaya and the participating students.”

Participating students will address a real-life case of a company that encounters issues concerning ESG, and shall be expected to analyze the case with a holistic approach, meaning that the solution should not be limited to conventional business models. Analysis and recommendations must take into consideration other key factors like environmental resource management, community wellbeing and governance structure, etc. The proposals will be evaluated by a team of ESG professionals, while the final presentation will be judged by a panel of industry experts including representatives from Nasdaq Corporate Solutions, and other supporting organisations from Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change and Hong Kong ESG Reporting Awards Limited.

The competition will be held in a span of two months from 6th October to 5thDecember 2020, with two rounds of assessment in total, targeting all undergraduate students from all academic disciplines.  Interested students may please enroll here.
